The birthday event in Sydney was organised by Tibetan Community of NSW aka Sydney. The event was considered priority for the Tibetan leadership in Australia following the agreement on reuniting the Tibetans under the single umbrella of the Tibetan community. After a successful meeting between the representatives of two groups helmed by the top leadership of four in Canberra, Sydney Tibetans gathered for the first time after 3 years to celebrate HH the Dalai Lama birthday. Doring said in his speech, “The reunification of Tibetans in Sydney on His Holiness birthday is the best present to His Holiness. Tibetans in other countries must take similar steps of reunification if differences and divisive opinions arises”. Both Chief Representative and the Tibetan Parliamentarian hailed the representatives of the two groups for their broad thinking and sacrifice putting the wider interest of Tibetans ahead of the parochial issues of division and differences. The Sydney event also saw new Federal Member for Mackellars, Honourable Dr. Sophie, attending the event and delivering speech, apart from the His Holiness Representative, Mr. Karma Sangay and Tibetan Parliamentarian, Tenzin Doring. Mr. Doring also delivered apologies to the Tibetan communities in Nowra for his inability to attend the His Holiness the Dalai Lama birthday event on account of its coincidence with Sydney event. The Nowra Tibetan community were first to invite the Tibetan Parliamentarian for this year’s His Holiness birthday event. However, due to the special speech delivery and event for the reunification of Tibetans in Sydney, the parliamentarian had to prioritise. The Nowra Tibetan community president had duly been informed and was positively responded stating Sydney event is important given the situation. The birthday event in Brisbane again was organised by the Tibetan Community of Queensland where Tenzin Doring attended as chief guest along with two OAM awardee luminaries, Mr. Namgayl Tsering and Khensur Rinpochey both of whom were conferred OAM in 2007 and 2020 respectively.
