A Lone Tibetan's protest for Tibet's freedom in front of Chinese Consulate in Sydney

A lone Tibetan recently took to street with a placard in front of the Chinese Consulate protesting against China’s continued occupation of Tibet and seeking independence for the country. Clad in complete traditional Tibetan dress, the protester carried a placard in his hand that read 'Protest against illegal occupation and Tibet and seeks restoration of Tibet’s independence’.  He was also seen flashing the Tibetan national flag which is banned in Tibet and can result in criminal charges under China's ant-separatism law. He was amongst the victim of Chinese occupation whose families have also suffered imprisonment for expressing their political views and registering their protest China’s continued occupation of Tibet and harsh policies and governance on Tibetans inside Tibet.

Sometime later, the activist was found to be facing questions from the local police (at the behest of Chinese consulate office). The police even claimed they received call from the consulate office over his activism. It appeared that his solo protest with placard facing Chinese consulate  attracted lots of public attention in the vicinity resulting in the consulate calling the police. It was to be cleared that the activist hasn’t face any legal actions since the solo protest wasn’t illegal.

Lobsang Jorden earlier had undertaken protest along with acclaimed former political prisoner and monk, Bhagdro in the Australia’s largest city. Australia is home to largest number of former political prisoners, their families or activist since mid-1990s. Most of the Tibetans in Australia have been directly or indirectly victims of China’s physical and mental torture during their incarceration and detention. They fled Tibet to India from where they obtain protection visa through Central Tibetan Administration also known as Tibetan Exile Government. Jordern said he will initiate a protest every Wednesday if any Tibetans would like to join him and as long as its peaceful, non-violent and legal.

Earlier, another Tibetan activist undertook protest and Tibet awareness activism in Perth while in Brisbane an MP has been approached to apprise of situation in Tibet as well as seeking support of Reciprocal Access to Tibet law in Australia.

It is to be noted that the official position of Central Tibetan Administration remains seeking genuine autonomy to the collective three traditional provinces through middle way policy despite China's cold shouldering and intransigence. However, several exile based groups such as TYC, NDPT and TNC seeks independence.
