TIBETANS ANXIOUSLY AWAIT THE PRIMARY ELECTORAL RESULTS FOR PRESIDENT AND PARLIAMENT


The Election Commission that is composed of three election commissioners will be declaring the primary election results for the presidential and parliamentary post which was completed earlier this year. Though the finalist for the final run-off for the presidential post have virtually been confirmed between Penpa Tsering and Kaydor Aukatsang, two of the former North America Representatives, both of whom didn’t serve full term of representative office due to varied reasons. The big two even manage to defeat seasoned politicians such as former ministers who were in the tight race.

Despite that, the Tibetans in exile are curiously waiting to learn who are the finalist for the parliament seat that had electorates in four different continents cutting across more than dozen countries. The single seat electorate of Australiasia and East Asia alone compose at least five countries including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Russia (Inner Mongolia). The 45-seat exile Parliament will have representations covering electorates of North America, EU, Australiasia and India-Nepal-Bhutan.

The official news agency of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) aired to publicise the declaration of results by the Election Commission from Dharamsala headquarters at 11:00 am Indian Standard Time (IST) today (Monday, 8 February 2021) which will be 3:30 PM Brisbane Time, 4:30 PM Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney Time, 1:30 PM Perth Time, 8:30 AM Moscow Time and 2:30 PM Tokyo Time for the electorate of Australiasia and East Asia.
