Tibetans in Australia and New Zealand

Tibetans in Austrlaia and New Zealand along with their sympathisers and supporters gathered at every spot of Li's visit in the last one week making sure their side of horrible story doesn't remain unheard and unnoitced by the visiting Chinese premier Li Qiang. Tibetans, Ugyurs, Hongkongers and Falung DAFA who are victims of China's occupation and restricitve policies of Communist party government in the last seven decades gathered at every spot of Li's visit in Austrlaia and New Zealand and made the wail for freedom sound loud and clear. The protest event in Canberra, which was organised by Australia Tibet Council, at lawn in front of the Federal Parliament of Australia that witnessed flying of Tibetan national flags with hundreds of Tibetans joining from most parts of Australia. Other nationalities present at the protest event include Hongkongers and Ugyurs. Amongst the attendants to the protest was resident Tibetan MP Tenzin Doring who drove more than 12 hours from Brisbane to Canberra with two toddlers and wife covering more than 1000 kilometers to participate and speak at a protest against Chinese premier Li Qiang’s visit in Australia’s capital city, Canberra. Just like many tibetans in Australia, Doring is son and grandson of former political prisoners whose both father and grandfather were victims of china's persecution and incarciration. Number of leaders and representatives spoke at the event in the capital inclusinf Mr. Doring, Shane Rattenbury, the Attorney-General of the ACT and former Speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly; David Smith, a Member of Australian Parliament, former Tibetan MP Kyizom Dhongue, Australia Tibet Council executive officer, Dr. Zoe and president of Australia Tibetan Community, Mr. Chuzin Ngawa to the audience of hundreds of Tibetans, Hongkongers, Ugyurs and practitioners of Falung Dafa, who have congregated at the lawn in the wee hours of the morning ahead of Chinese premier’s visit to the parliament for talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Other speakers include leaders of the HongKong, Ugyur and Falung Dafa Association. While speaking to Australian and international media, Mr. Doring raised the issue of human rights in Tibet and urged the Australian Prime Minister to be more bold and confident in speaking up for human rights in Tibet as he is a democratically elected leader in Australia unlike Chinese leadership who doesn’t have mandate of the people, but the Communist party per se. The protest continued for several hours both in front of the parliament as well as Chinese Embassy with number of representatives from different nationalities such as Ugyurs and HongKong speaking during protest apart from Tibetans and Tibetan supporters. Meanwhile, scuffles ensued between anti-CCP and pro-CCP supporters at the lawn of the parliament with emotions running peak as both sides jostled to raise their flags in an attempt to make their voice heard. Similar protest were also held upon Li's arrival in perth city, where former poltical prisoner, Tenpa Dhargyal became victim of pro-CCP's punch while raising the tibetan flag in the midst of protest. Brisbane based Tibetan supporter, Mr. Drew flew all the way to Perth in support of Tibetans, Ugyurs and Hongkongers joining thr protest along with them. In Adelaide, protesters held Uyghur, Tibetan and Hong Kong flags, or waved signs asking Australia not to submit to "panda propaganda" as per SBS report. Earlier, Tibetans in Auckland and Friends of Tibet members protested against the Chinese Premier Li Qiang during his visit to Auckland on 14 June 2024 after his one day visit to New Zealand’s capital city Wellington on Thursday.
